Cette semaine, nous avons appris l’annulation du projet de la création d’un Legoland sur le site Caterpillar à Charleroi.

Si ce projet a malheureusement échoué, il a donné des idées à un autre géant du jouet. En effet, Playmobil vient d’annoncer sa volonté de créer un parc à thème dans le Borinage . 

Depuis quelque temps Playmobil étoffe son offre avec quelques boîte consacrées au célèbre artiste-peintre Vincent Van Gogh.   C’est à l’occasion du 170^ème anniversaire de la naissance de Vincent (30 mars 1853) que .la marque allemande annonce sa volonté de créer un parc consacré  à Van Gogh.

Le lieu qui accueillera le Parc Playmobil n’a pas été choisi au hasard.  Il s’agit du domaine de l’ancien charbonnage de Marcasse, là où Vincent est descendu au fond de la mine lorsqu’il était prédicateur au sein de la petite communauté protestante de Petit-Wasmes.   Le domaine de Marcasse dispose d’un magnifique terrain verdoyant de 5ha avec encore quelques anciens bâtiments miniers au pied d’un majestueux terril.   Aujourd’hui, le lieu fait partie de la route Van Gogh Europe qui relie tous les endroits en Europe où le peintre à résidé.

L’implantation du parc pourrait donner un fameux coup de pouce au développement touristique de notre région.

Des précisions sur le projet n’ont pas encore été annoncées, mais elles seront dévoilées lors d’une conférence de presse qui aura lieu à Marcasse ce dimanche 2 avril à 12h.

Deze week vernamen we dat het project om een Legoland te creëren op het Caterpillar-terrein in Charleroi niet doorging.

Hoewel dit project helaas mislukte, bracht het een andere speelgoedgigant op ideeën. Playmobil heeft namelijk zopas aangekondigd dat het een themapark wil oprichten in de Borinage. 

Sinds enige tijd breidt Playmobil zijn assortiment uit met een aantal dozen gewijd aan de beroemde schilder Vincent Van Gogh.   Ter gelegenheid van de 170e verjaardag van Vincents geboorte (30 maart 1853) heeft het Duitse merk aangekondigd een park te willen creëren dat gewijd is aan Van Gogh.

De locatie voor het Playmobil Park is niet willekeurig gekozen.  Het is het domein van de voormalige kolenmijn van Marcasse, waar Vincent naar de bodem van de mijn afdaalde toen hij predikant was in de kleine protestantse gemeenschap van Petit-Wasmes.   Het domein van Marcasse heeft een prachtig groen gebied van 5 hectare met enkele oude mijngebouwen aan de voet van een majestueuze terril.   Vandaag maakt de site deel uit van de Van Gogh Europe-route, die alle plaatsen in Europa waar de schilder leefde met elkaar verbindt.

De aanleg van het park zou een grote impuls kunnen geven aan de ontwikkeling van het toerisme in onze regio.

De details van het project zijn nog niet bekend, maar zullen worden onthuld tijdens een persconferentie die aanstaande zondag 2 april om 12 uur in Marcasse wordt gehouden.

This week, we learned that the project to create a Legoland on the Caterpillar site in Charleroi was cancelled.

If this project unfortunately failed, it gave ideas to another toy giant. Indeed, Playmobil has just announced its intention to create a theme park in the Borinage. 

For some time now, Playmobil has been expanding its offer with a few boxes dedicated to the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.   It is on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of Vincent's birth (March 30, 1853) that the German brand announces its desire to create a park dedicated to Van Gogh.

The place that will host the Playmobil Park was not chosen at random.  It is the domain of the former Marcasse colliery, where Vincent went down to the bottom of the mine when he was a preacher in the small Protestant community of Petit-Wasmes.   The domain of Marcasse has a magnificent green area of 5ha with some old mining buildings at the foot of a majestic slag heap.   Today, the place is part of the Van Gogh Europe route which connects all the places in Europe where the painter resided.

The establishment of the park could give a big boost to the development of tourism in our region.

Details of the project have not yet been announced, but they will be revealed at a press conference to be held in Marcasse this Sunday, April 2 at noon.
