Visite de la famille Arts

Ce samedi 23 avril 2022, j’ai eu le plaisir d’accueillir la famille Arts du Brabant Septentrional.

C’est lors d’un pèlerinage en hommage à leur père, Anton Arts, qu’ils ont fait une pause dans le Borinage. D’abord au Charbonnage de marcasse, lieu emblématique dans la vie de Vincent Van Gogh, et ensuite au Site du Grand-Hornu.

Leur voyage continue à Auvers-sur-Oise où ils seront accueillis par Dominique Janssens et Stéphanie Piard à l’Auberge Ravoux, et où Amandine Caulier leur fera découvrir la ville et la tombe de Vincent et Theo Van Gogh.

Chers Filip, Stéphanie et Dominique,

Nous tenons à vous remercier pour votre aide. L'année dernière, nous avons été contactés à l'occasion du décès de mon père, qui est mort beaucoup trop tôt à l'âge de 62 ans.

Il voulait la même tombe que Vincent van Gogh. Vous nous avez aidés à trouver les bonnes dimensions et les détails tels que le type de pierre.

La pierre tombale a maintenant été placée et nous sommes très heureux du résultat. Veuillez trouver ci-joint quelques photos.

Joli détail : mon père a pris une coupe de l'hédère de la tombe de Vincent van Gogh chez lui (je crois que c'était il y a 10 ans). Il a ensuite planté cette bouture dans le jardin et elle a depuis poussé en une grande quantité d'hédéras. Cet hedera a également été planté sur la tombe de mon père (il y a maintenant quelques objets dedans, comme des cadres de photos, mais ils seront enlevés plus tard). Au printemps, l'hedera poussera et, espérons-le, dépassera les bords blancs, comme c'est aussi le cas pour Vincent et Théo. La pierre de mon père est maintenant encore de couleur claire, mais elle vieillira bien avec le temps.

Le 22 avril, mon père est décédé pour une année supplémentaire.

Pour honorer mon père et son grand héros Vincent van Gogh, nous partons avec toute notre compagnie (ma mère, 5 enfants, 5 beaux-enfants et 8 petits-enfants) du 23 avril au 30 avril de cette année à Auvers sur Oise. En tout cas, nous serons logés au camping Sandaya Paris Maisons-Laffitte. Depuis le camping, nous aimerions, entre autres, nous rendre sur la tombe de Vincent van Gogh. Nous avons donc bouclé la boucle.

Auriez-vous des conseils sur ce qu'il faut faire à Auvers et dans les environs en rapport avec Vincent van Gogh ? Peut-on réserver des visites guidées, par exemple ? Ou des lieux où Vincent a vécu/travaillé et que nous pourrions visiter ?

Nous sommes également ouverts aux idées concernant le voyage. Qui sait, une visite de Mons/Bergen sur le chemin pourrait être amusante, éventuellement combinée avec un déjeuner ou une tasse de café.

Fille d'Antoon Arts, le plus grand fan de Vincent van Gogh que j'ai jamais connu.

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, I had the pleasure to welcome the Arts family from North Brabant.

It was during a pilgrimage in homage to their father, Anton Arts, that they took a break in the Borinage. First at the Charbonnage de marcasse, an emblematic place in the life of Vincent Van Gogh, and then at the Site du Grand-Hornu.

Their journey continues in Auvers-sur-Oise where they will be welcomed by Dominique Janssens and Stéphanie Piard at the Auberge Ravoux, and where Amandine Caulier will make them discover the city and the tomb of Vincent and Theo Van Gogh.

Dear Filip, Stephanie and Dominique,

We would like to thank you very much for your help. Last year we had contact regarding the death of my father who died way too early at the age of 62.

He wanted the same grave as Vincent van Gogh. You helped us with the right dimensions and details such as the type of stone.

The headstone has now been placed and we are very happy with the result. Attached are some photos.

Nice detail: my father took a cutting of the hedera from the grave of Vincent van Gogh home (I think it was 10 years ago). He planted this cutting in the garden and it has now grown into a large amount of hedera. This hedera has also been planted on my father's grave (now there are also some things in between like picture frames, but this will be removed later on). In the spring the hedera will grow and hopefully overgrow the white edges, as it also looks at Vincent and Theo. The stone of my father is still light in color, but will in time also weather well.

On April 22 my father has been deceased for a year now.

To honor my father and his great hero Vincent van Gogh we are going with our whole company (my mother, 5 children, 5 children-in-law and 8 grandchildren) from 23 April to 30 April this year to Auvers sur Oise. At least, we are staying at the Sandaya Paris Maisons-Laffitte camping site. From the campsite we want to visit, among other things, the grave of Vincent van Gogh. So the circle is round again.

Do you happen to have any tips for what to do in Auvers and the surrounding area in relation to Vincent van Gogh? For example, can you book guided tours? Or places where Vincent lived/worked that we could visit?

We are also open to ideas regarding the outward journey. Who knows, a visit to Mons/Bergen on the way there might be fun, possibly combined with lunch or a cup of coffee.

Op zaterdag 23 april 2022 had ik het genoegen de familie Arts uit Noord-Brabant te verwelkomen.

Het was tijdens een bedevaart als eerbetoon aan hun vader, Anton Arts, dat zij een pauze namen in de Borinage. Eerst bij de Charbonnage de marcasse, een emblematische plaats in het leven van Vincent Van Gogh, en vervolgens bij de Site du Grand-Hornu.

Hun reis wordt voortgezet in Auvers-sur-Oise, waar zij worden ontvangen door Dominique Janssens en Stéphanie Piard in de Auberge Ravoux, en waar Amandine Caulier hen de stad en het graf van Vincent en Theo Van Gogh zal laten zien.

Graag willen wij jullie hartelijk bedanken voor jullie hulp. Vorig jaar hebben we contact gehad in verband met het overlijden van mijn vader die op 62 jarige leeftijd veel te vroeg is gestorven.

Hij wilde graag eenzelfde graf als Vincent van Gogh. Jullie hebben ons toen geholpen met de juiste afmetingen en details zoals het soort steen.

Inmiddels is de grafsteen geplaatst en we zijn heel erg blij met het resultaat. In de bijlage wat foto's.

Leuk detail: mijn vader heeft destijds (ik denk al wel 10 jaar geleden) een stekje van de hedera van het graf van Vincent van Gogh mee naar huis genomen. Dit stekje heeft hij toen geplant in de tuin en dit is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot een grote hoeveelheid hedera. Deze hedera is inmiddels ook geplant op het graf van mijn vader (nu staan er ook nog wat spulletjes tussen zoals fotolijstjes, maar dit zal later weggehaald worden). In het voorjaar zal de hedere flink gaan groeien en hopelijk de witte randen gaan overwoekeren, zoals het ook bij Vincent en Theo er uit ziet. De steen van mijn vader is nu nog wat licht van kleur, maar zal door de tijd heen ook goed gaan verweren.

Op 22 april is mijn vader inmiddels alweer een jaar overleden.

Om mijn vader en zijn grote held Vincent van Gogh te eren gaan we met ons hele gezelschap (mijn moeder, 5 kinderen, 5 schoonkinderen en 8 kleinkinderen) van 23 april t/m 30 april van dit jaar naar Auvers sur Oise. Althans, we verblijven op camping Sandaya Paris Maisons-Laffitte. Vanuit de camping willen we onder andere het graf van Vincent van Gogh bezoeken. Zo is de cirkel weer rond.

Hebben jullie toevallig wat leuke tips voor ons wat er te doen is in Auvers en omgeving gerelateerd aan Vincent van Gogh? Zijn er bijvoorbeeld ook rondleidingen te boeken? Of plekken waar Vincent heeft gewoond/gewerkt waar we naartoe kunnen?

Ook staan we open voor ideeën met betrekking tot de heenreis. Wie weet is een bezoek aan Mons/Bergen op de heenreis leuk, eventueel te combineren met een lunch of koffie te drinken.

Ik hoop van jullie te horen. Nogmaals: onze dank is enorm groot!
